MAN Oron installs new Multifunctional Classroom Simulator

… Capacity for at least 30 cadets, with 20 software, programmes

The Maritime Academy of Nigeria (MAN) Oron, Akwa Ibom, has installed its newly acquired multifunctional classroom simulator for training cadets.

Rector of the Academy, Commodore Emmanuel Effedua (Rtd), said that the classroom simulator, which has capacity for at least 30 cadets at a time, has 20 different software and programmes.

He also explained that: “An instructor is able to monitor students from his own position and can play back their errors.

According to Effedua, the engineers are also ready to couple the Full Mission Bridge and Full Mission Engine room Simulators, soon.

It would be recalled that on its visiting the Academy recently on its oversight function, the House Committee on Maritime Administration, Education and Safety expressed satisfaction over the development in the Academy.

Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Lynda Ikpeazu, commended the Rector and the Academy’s Management for the remarkable improvements in infrastructure as well as other resources for training the cadets.

Ikpeazu said that the Academy had worked committedly to achieve standards comparable to what obtains  globally.
