Navy hands over seized vessel to owner in Delta

Nigerian Navy Vessel (NNS) Delta has handed over MV Platform Care I to its owner, Blut Logistics Limited.

The Nigerian News Agency (NAN) reports that the impounded vessel was handed over to its owner on Friday at Warri Naval Base, following instructions from Navy Headquarters.

NAN also reports that the General Manager, NNS Delta, Cdr. Levi Deyin, signed the waiver on behalf of the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Awwal Gambo, and the commander of the NNS Delta, Commodore Abdulhamid Baba-Inna.

The vessel was confiscated by the Navy in February 2020, following the alleged lack of appropriate documentation from the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Security Agency (NIMASA) and the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR).

Speaking to representatives of Blut Logistics Ltd., Deyin stressed the need for operators to always have their relevant documents during operations.

“In accordance with the directive from Navy Headquarters to release Platform Care l to the owners, I, Cdr. LD Deyin, on behalf of the Chief of the Naval Staff and the Commander of the Nigerian Navy vessel Delta, hands you the ship.

“You are advised to always obtain the necessary documents for your activities,” Deyin told company representatives.

NAN also reports that the vessel was handed over to company representatives in the presence of the second lieutenant. Richard Oluwaferanmi, head of the NIMASA core area.
